Task-specific agents
Research, triage, data-entry, reconciliation, support and operations agents that work inside a defined scope with clear success criteria.
AI Agent Development · Canada
An AI agent is a language model with tools, memory and a loop that lets it plan, act and check its own progress. We design agents around a specific job, give them only the permissions that job needs, and measure them like any other production system.
Why it matters
Demos of autonomous agents are easy. Agents that a business can trust are not: they need scoped permissions, predictable behaviour on edge cases, a record of every tool call, and an evaluation suite that catches regressions before customers do. That engineering is where we spend our time.
What we deliver
Research, triage, data-entry, reconciliation, support and operations agents that work inside a defined scope with clear success criteria.
Planner, worker and reviewer agents that split a large job, check each other's output and hand off to people at the right moments.
Model Context Protocol servers and function-calling tools that connect agents to your databases, SaaS apps, document stores and internal APIs.
Short-term working memory, long-term user and project memory, and retrieval so agents remember what matters without leaking what they shouldn't.
Role-based permissions, spend and action limits, human approval steps for irreversible actions, and full traces of every reasoning step and tool call.
Scenario test suites, LLM-as-judge scoring, regression checks on every change, and production dashboards for quality, latency and cost.
Use cases
Kitchener · Waterloo · Cambridge · Guelph
Waterloo Region has one of Canada's densest concentrations of software companies, and plenty of traditional businesses that can now use agents too. We build agents for both, from customer-support and operations agents for local firms to MCP integrations and agentic features for Kitchener-Waterloo tech companies.
Waterloo Region: Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Elmira, St. Jacobs, New Hamburg, Baden, Ayr, Wellesley, Breslau
Nearby, in person: Stratford, Brantford, Hamilton, London, Woodstock, Milton, Toronto and the GTA
Remote: everywhere in Canada, including Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Halifax
Process
We map the workflow with the people who run it, find the highest-value automation points and agree measurable success criteria.
A working prototype on your real data in weeks, not months, tested with real users against the agreed criteria.
Security review, evaluation suite, monitoring, permissions and integration with your systems, ready for production.
We hand over with documentation and training, or stay on to operate, measure and extend the system.
Agentic AI refers to systems where a language model does more than answer a prompt. It plans steps, calls tools and APIs, checks results and keeps going until a goal is met, within limits you set.
Only with the right controls. We give each agent the minimum permissions it needs, require human approval for irreversible or high-value actions, log every tool call, and test against a scenario suite before and after every change.
Whichever fits the job and your data rules: frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, or open-weight models such as Qwen and Llama running privately. Agents are built so the model can be swapped without a rewrite.
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI applications to tools and data. If you want several AI tools or agents to use the same internal systems, an MCP server is usually the cleanest way to expose them once, securely.
Yes. Dassjay Labs builds AI agents and agentic workflows from Kitchener, Ontario, for companies across Waterloo Region and the rest of Canada.
